Lisa Ortega Loya began her Pilates journey in California where she received a Theater/Dance degree from CSUF. Managing her back pain from scoliosis, she discovered Pilates was the only thing that helped relieve her symptoms. Lisa immersed herself in the Pilates technique, assisted several chiropractors and became one of the founding members of The Institute for the Pilates Method, the only national Pilates organization at the time. She is Pilates certified through Physicalmind institute, a CoreAlign trainer through Balanced Body and a certified Franklin method educator. She completed the Blue Throat yoga meditation course with Paul Mueller-Ortega and continues to deepen her studies with Jennifer Reuter.

When Lisa moved to Hawaii she taught creative movement and dance in local schools with the Hawaii State Dance Council. She also became a certified ACE and TRX instructor. In 1994 she opened On Balance Pilates, the first Pilates studio on Oahu. She feels blessed to celebrate 25+ years of doing what she loves. Her current Kailua studio offers private instruction in Pilates and CoreAlign and small group equipment sessions. She teaches one group Pilates Mat at Blue Lotus Kailua.

Lisa has conducted many workshops on Oahu and the outer islands for HMSA, Alexander and Baldwin, Mid-Pacific Country Club, Ko Olina, Olelo, and YMCA. On Balance Pilates, a former certifying studio for the PhysicalMind Institute, has been featured in The Honolulu Advertiser, Midweek, HMAA newsletter, Inside Out magazine, Kailua beach neighbors, Go Kailua and KITV News. Through years of continuous study and personal practice, Lisa has developed a unique eclectic and functional style. Her teaching integrates her rehab, dance and fitness background, and she enjoys challenging and inspiring her students to move with grace and efficiency in their bodies. Her personal practice includes Pilates, CoreAlign, Yoga, Meditation, running and surfing.
